Thanks for your post and for the helpful answers in the comments that help narrow my search for the issue. I spent 1-2 hours with the same issue and finally figured out what the problem was: for security reasons, Windows 10 does not allow DRM protected games from modifying system files (see for more information).
Given that Black and White was published by EA and released during, I had a hunch it had some sort of DRM on it. Turns out it does - it has, which is NOT supported in Windows 10.
Black And White 1 Walkthrough
To get around this issue you have two options:.The legal, but hard way. If you have the original Black and White disc, you can allow SafeDisc drivers to run in Windows 10 by installing them and signing them yourself (see third post for details).
Black And White SWEDISH Language Pack. A language pack for those from Sweden, who know Swedish, or wish to learn Swedish. Mods; By CryptoSporidium. Love and look for parkour maps on Minecraft Pocket Edition? Then You can try a map called Black and white parkour, the aim of which is clear.
However, SafeDisc has which is why Microsoft pulled support for it in the first place. The shady, but easy way. You can get a no-cd fix (although I recommend patching Black and White to first), but as y'all probably know, no-cd fixes (aka cracks) are notoriously shady and virus/trojan prone.
Not that I would ever encourage pirating a game that isn't available anywhere for digital download and contains DRM that prevents play on modern operating systems, but there is a website dedicated to making tools that help backup old games (see ) that may prove helpful. Please note I take NO RESPONSIBILITY for the content of this website.
It may or may not have helped me with my Black and White installation and I'm posting it here as a potential resource. Also, since I'm in the business of posting copious amounts of links related to Black & White, here are links to the and add-ons.P.S. For future reference on running other old games on Windows 10, there's a pretty extensive list of games with DRM: see. Thanks, your advice got the game working for me. I still run into one problem though.
It seems like there is an issue with sounds in the game. After a short while of playing (about 10 mins) whenever a new sound should start playing, the game will lag for a few seconds. For example, when moving close to the worship center, the drum music will only start after a few seconds lag, or zooming way out will cause it too. It keeps getting worse and worse until some sounds just stop playing and the game becomes unplayable with lag. Any ideas how to fix?Edit: Fixed it.
If anyone else runs into this issue, copy over the Audio folder from the black & white cd into the install directory. So does it work? I bought B&W today, and I really hope it works on my windows 10.edit: Also, have you tried running it in compability mode for windows 7 or 8?Update 2: I panicked whilst waiting for game to arrive to I tried a pirated version.
Installed it, absolutely no problems, worked flawlessly for me.If there is the the error that says you are missing IFC22.dll open the installation directory for Black and White, it should be there just copy it, and paste it over runblack.exeElse If there is the error that says you are missing p5dll.dll go here -and download the zip, extract it, and copy p5dll.dll to the installation directory. I cannot seem to get this game to work on my windows 8. I've installed the patches, went through the whole process shown here:but still to no avail. Every time I try to start it I get 4 system error notifications:'the program cannot start because IFC22.dll is missing from you computer'the program cannot start because the LHLogR.dll is missing from your computer'The program cannot start because the LHaudiodllR.dll is missing from your computer'the program cannot start because the LHmultiplayerdllR.dll is missing from you computer'Anyone know what to do about this? I'm stumped.
